What's weird is the new movie somehow fails to do both in its first hour. It was able to be fun and sell toys to kids, yet also have some adult thrills and present some food for thought to adults. The way Pixar became popular making movies that appeal to both the young and the old.that's kind of how I view the original Jurassic Park. Having watched it myself (for free), it's definitely for young kids now. And a bunch of students told me they were going to see the new movie this weekend. I work at an elementary school, and there were a few young students wearing Jurassic Park t-shirts this past week. I can't even name the characters from the reboot except for Wu because he was from the original and Owen because I saw his name on a LEGO set. It was the heart of the characters combined with the cool dinosaurs and overall philosophical themes of the film. It wasn't the awe of the dinosaurs that made the first movie so great. They really had an easy job to do here and somehow they blew it. Even D'Onofrio, who I think was in it, sucked ass and he typically knocks it out of the park every time. There was no story there, the characters were all really dumb and forgettable. To see the park actually as a park with dinosaurs and everything, it was exactly what I wanted. I remember being really excited during the opening of the Jurassic World though. I hate that they probably wasted BD Wong on this one but maybe he'll still be around for another go at something different. It really did have a lot of potential and I would really hope they'd reboot it someday and do good.
